Automation you can explain.

We design and build AI and automation for organisations that will be asked how it works. Routine steps are automated, AI judgement is constrained, decisions about meaning stay with your people, and every output carries a full audit trail.

The Responsive framework

Three questions every automation has to answer

Trust is not a feature added at the end. The Responsive framework designs each automation so that a sceptical person can ask these questions and get a specific answer: determine who decides what, demonstrate it works, document what happened.

01 · Determine

What is it allowed to do?

Automate the effort. Constrain the AI. Escalate the interpretation.

Routine, rule-based steps are fully automated. Where AI judgement is used it is tightly constrained: closed sets of outputs, independent runs that vote, adversarial testing, and a defined way to say “this does not fit”. Decisions about meaning go to your people, by design.

02 · Demonstrate

How do you know it is good enough?

Judged against expert golden sets, with every figure carrying a confidence interval.

Anything involving judgement is tested against work your experts produced by hand, using a proper statistical framework rather than raw percentage agreement. We improve it until it matches that standard, and we publish what it has and has not been tested on.

03 · Document

What happened in this case?

An audit trail for everything.

Every output comes with a full record from raw data to result: each transformation, each automated judgement and each human decision. Any figure or quote can be traced back to the source behind it.

Governance runs through all three

Before work starts we agree and write down where data is processed, who can see it, how long it is kept, whether any AI service may retain or learn from it, and which decisions need a named person's approval.

Not a replacement for your peopleThey design, interpret and stand behind the work.
Not autonomous end to endEvery process has points where a person decides.
Not a black boxIf we cannot show how an output was made, we do not deliver it.
Not a platform to buyA method that travels with you. The tests and records are yours.

What we do

Where we apply it

Automation design & build

We find where automation genuinely saves time, then build it with the controls above: deterministic steps automated, AI constrained, people deciding what matters.

  • Process & workflow automation
  • LLM & agent integration
  • Data pipeline automation
  • Internal tools & copilots

Validation & evidence

Independent testing of automation that involves judgement, whether yours or a supplier's. We build the golden set with your experts and tell you, with proper statistics, whether it is good enough.

  • Golden sets built from expert work
  • Chance-corrected agreement with confidence intervals
  • Sample-size planning
  • Adversarial testing & re-testing on change

Audit trail & governance

Audit trails and the documentation that organisations are asked for, produced as a by-product of the work rather than reconstructed afterwards.

  • Audit-trail design
  • Trust sheets for each automation
  • Risk & impact assessment input
  • Regulatory alignment (UK GDPR, EU AI Act, UK guidance)

Web products & deployment

The delivery layer: design, build and ship fast, modern websites and web apps, deployed on resilient, low-maintenance infrastructure.

  • Product design & full-stack build
  • Static & dynamic web apps
  • Cloudflare deployment & hosting
  • Performance, SEO & maintenance

Public sector

Built for organisations that answer for their decisions

Public bodies are asked to show their working: to auditors, to the people affected, sometimes to a court. We design automation, and the evidence around it, with that reader in mind.
